The UAE Moon-sighting Committee on Sunday night, announced that Monday the 6th of June as the first day of the holy month of Ramadan this year. TajDubai wishes everyone a blessed Ramadan 2016!
The 12-member Moon-sighting Committee chaired by Sultan bin Saeed Al Badi, Minister for Justice met at the offices of the Judicial Department, Abu Dhabi. The Minister met and greeted UAE President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Vice-President and Prime Miniser of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Their Highnesses Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates and the people of the UAE and whole Islamic world on the beginning of the holy month.
Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has come up with special instructions for schools. Pupils who are fasting are prohibited from exposure to heat to avoid the risk of exhaustion and dehydration and are exempted from physical exercise classes.
The private schools in the emirate will start between 8 and 8:30am and finish between 1pm and 1:30pm with shorter breaks during the holy month of Ramadan. Schools are instructed not to function more than five hours a day during Ramadan. Eating and drinking in the school will be limited to designated areas for non-fasting students, teachers and officials.
