In an auction held at Al Jawaher Hall in Sharjah, the license plate number 1 fetched a whopping AED18 million within minutes from the opening bid for the price of AED1 million, reports say. Arif Ahmad Al Zarouni, an Emirati businessman is the winning bidder.
Mr. Al Zarouni told The Gulf News that he has no plan to win other numbers as his ambition is always to be number 1. The newpaper also reports that the organisers had a tough time controlling the proceedings in a charged atmosphere at the hall.
